Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih Major General Izak Pangemanan said the TNI investigation team was examining witnesses related to cases of violence in Puncak Regency, Central Papua.
The witnesses examined included members of Infantry Battalion 300/Bjw, doctors at Ilaga Hospital and the victim's family.
"Law enforcement will be implemented in order to provide justice for the families of the victims," said the Pangdam in Jayapura, Tuesday, April 2, as reported by Antara.
The Military Commander explained that nine witnesses had been questioned, including the victim's family.
In addition, the team has also secured evidence in the form of equipment used during violent acts.
Pomdam III Siliwangi has also detained 13 soldiers from Yonif 300/Bjw who are suspected of being perpetrators of violence.
The Pangdam advised all soldiers who are members of the task force to participate in maintaining the security situation in Papua.
"Papua is a land of peace and a small paradise that descends to earth so that we work together to protect it," said the Pangdam.

Previously, the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Adi Prabowo, explained that around last February, the Puncak Police reported receiving three people who were secured by the Yonif 300/Bjw Task Force after a shootout occurred in the area.
Three people were handed over, namely WM, DK and AM, but WM was immediately evacuated to Ilaga Hospital because he was injured and died shortly after.
WM itself is listed as a member of the KKB who was involved in a number of cases of armed violence in Puncak Regency, including attacks on workers of the Omukia Health Center construction project in October 2023, and is also involved in the burning case of SMA Negeri 1 Ilaga.
"The Puncak Police released DK and AM because there was not enough evidence," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Benny.
