Paldam Jaya Munisi Warehouse Established Since 1982, Pangdam: Already In Accordance With Procedures

JAKARTA - Pangdam Jaya Maj. Gen. Mohamad Hasan ensured that the warehouse system for the munitions was in accordance with procedures. Although, the Paldam Jaya Regional Munition Warehouse has been established since 1982.

"This ceiling was established in 1982. Don't wait for the old one, but this is a purchase and even the Paldam has been checked according to the procedure," Hasan told reporters, Saturday, March 30.

The warehousing system which is said to be in accordance with procedures is like storage of munitions in the bunker. Then, there are embankments on it that function as a safety. In fact, there is no electricity that has the potential to cause a fire.

"We make sure once again that the warehousing system is in accordance with procedures in all bunkers and especially since the state of this expired munitions is safe for explosions, but yes, we don't know the munitions are flying everywhere," he said.

Even though it was in accordance with the procedure, Hasan said that his party could not predict if there was friction of ammunition that caused the explosion which led to the fire.

"So from the ammunition material itself that rubs or because it is unstable it only causes smoke and only causes explosions," Hasan said.

For information, the explosion occurred at around 18.05 WIB. According to amateur videos circulating, the fire soared as a result of the explosion, creating panic around the area.
