Ambulance Arrives At The Location Of The Munisi Warehouse Explosion In Bantar Gebang, Bekasi

JAKARTA - Saturday night which was peaceful in Bantar Gebang, Bekasi, West Java, was rocked by the tragedy of the shaking explosion. At 18.40 WIB, a devastating explosion occurred at the Munisi Warehouse of the Region A 00-21-01, also known as the Kodam Jaya Equipment Complex.

In the amateur video that was widely circulated, the burning flames were seen towering, signaling the severity of the explosion. The area was immediately sterilized with a radius of 2 kilometers from the scene. Ambulances and hearses appear to be moving towards the compound, providing indications of casualties.

Although there has been no official confirmation from the authorities, the initial report stated that 15 people had died as a result of the explosion. At 20.15, Pangdam Jaya, Major General (Mayjen) of the TNI Mohamad Hasan arrived at the location. However, he immediately entered the scene without being willing to meet with the media crew.

The complex, which is also a residence or member dormitory, has an important role in storing, caring for, and distributing munitions and explosives to various units of users within the Jaya Military Command and the ranks of the Indonesian Army's Balakpus. The warehouse is also tasked with providing technical assistance and supervision of units that store munitions and explosives, as well as carrying out exercises related to security and use of the material.

Deep concern radiated from the local community and the whole country following this tragedy, while an official investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and responsibility for this incident.
