KPK Receives Return Of IDR 40 Million Allegedly Related To SYL Money Laundering From Sahroni

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has received a refund of Rp40 million from NasDem Party Treasurer Ahmad Sahroni. The delivery was made to the holding account on Wednesday, March 27 yesterday.

"At around 13.00, the person concerned sent the Rp40 million and Thursday he checked it in the holding account," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, March 28.

After this return, Sahroni is very likely to be summoned by investigators again to be confirmed. However, this summons will be decided by investigators.

"Later, it will be re-confirmed to the person concerned when it is needed, whether it is really needed to be re-confirmed, because it has actually been included in the proof of the indictment, right, if the prosecutor has proven it at trial," he said.

Sahroni previously agreed that Syahrul Yasin Limpo had handed over money to his party after carrying out an examination at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Friday, March 22. "IDR 820 million from SYL and IDR 40 million for flood disaster relief, yes," he told reporters at the time.

Of this amount, Sahroni said Rp820 million had been submitted to the KPK. "There is only one addition that I told you this morning. There is Rp40 million that needs to be confirmed and investigators have suggested the day to be transferred to a virtual account immediately," he continued.

Previously reported, the KPK named Syahrul Yasin Limpo as a suspect in alleged money laundering. This step was taken after investigators developed allegations of extortion and gratification which is currently being tried at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN).

In the case of extortion and gratification, Syahrul was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion in the 2020-2023 period. This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, the NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. Then, he was also charged with receiving gratuities of Rp40.6 M from January 2020 to October 2023.
