Otto Hasibuan: The Election This Time Is The Best, The Narrative Of Cheating Hurts People's Hearts

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Defenders Team Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Otto Hasibuan, said the 2024 election was the most peaceful and best election, not the worst election as argued by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

"This election is the most peaceful and certainly the best, not the worst as stated by the petitioners," Otto said in his face during the continued trial of the 2024 Presidential Election Result Dispute (PHPU) at the Constitutional Court building, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 28.

Otto said that the arguments of Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud in this case were a narrative full of assumptions, which seemed to lead to an opinion that the defeat of the two was due to election fraud.

"The narratives that were developed and built seemed as if the people chose Prabowo-Gibran because of fraud and because of social assistance," he said.

According to Otto, this hurts and denys the majority right of the Indonesian people to make their choices freely. He admitted/ claimed that the Indonesian people chose Prabowo-Gibran because they wanted the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2 to lead Indonesia in the future.

The choice was made by the Indonesian people based on their conscience. So, if it is alleged and the people are accused of choosing because of social assistance, because of fraud, it hurts the hearts of the majority of the Indonesian people who choose Prabowo-Gibran as the president and vice president they love," he said.

The Prabowo-Gibran camp stated that it would not be provoked and affected by the alleged fraud narratives. They stated that they would stick to the principles of honesty and professionalism.

"We will provide a juridical analysis to refute the petitioners' arguments and we will argue that the petitioners' arguments are not with assumptive narratives and assumptions, will not send opinions, we will convey it clearly with legal arguments accompanied by existing evidence," said Otto.

In this case, Anies-Muhaimin basically asked the Constitutional Court to cancel the KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning the Determination of the Results of the General Election of the President and Vice President of the Year.

Anies-Muhaimin also asked the Constitutional Court to disqualify the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number two Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka as participants in the 2024 presidential election.

Both of them also asked the Constitutional Court to order the KPU to re-vote for the 2024 presidential election without including Prabowo-Gibran.

Meanwhile, Ganjar-Mahfud requested that the Constitutional Court cancel the KPU Decree Number 360 of 2024 concerning the Determination of the General Election Results of the President and Vice President of the Year.

They also asked the Constitutional Court to disqualify Prabowo-Subianto as the pair of candidates for the 2024 presidential election. Then, they also asked the Constitutional Court to order the KPU to re-vote for the 2024 presidential election only between Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud.

Today, the Constitutional Court held an examination hearing with the agenda of submitting the respondent's answer, information from related parties, and giving information for the PHPU case for the presidential election.

There are two cases filed. Case one, namely the application submitted by candidate pair number one Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar with register number 1 / PPPU.PRES-XXII / 2024.

Meanwhile, case two, namely the application submitted by candidate pair number 3 Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md with register number 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024.
