JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian asked Pj. regional heads to immediately meet the budget needs of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in each region.

The Minister of Home Affairs said that the fulfillment of this budget needed to be done on time because the organizers had to carry out a number of stages.

Therefore, Tito emphasized that the budget that had been mutually agreed upon through the Draft Regional Grant Agreement (NPHD) could be distributed as much as 40 percent of the 2023 Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) and 60 percent of the 2024 APBD.

He has reminded regional heads about the percentage of the distribution of the budget since January 2023 through a circular.

"Almost all (regions) have signed the draft of the Regional Grant Agreement," said Tito.

He encouraged the Acting Regional Head to immediately calculate the availability of the budget in accordance with the agreement in the NPHD.

The Minister of Home Affairs asked the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Regional Financial Development (Keuda) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to properly check the availability of the budget.

In addition, Tito also reminded the Acting Regional Head to continue to try to control inflation, because this inflation control is related to efforts to ensure that people's food is available in the market at affordable prices.

"This means that there are goods and the price is affordable by the people, that's important," he said.

Tito and the Inspector General (Irjen) of the Ministry of Home Affairs also continue to hold coordination meetings to control regional inflation, which involve relevant ministries and institutions as well as local governments (Pemda).

He asked the regional head to maintain the inflation rate at 2.5 percent, with a minimum figure of 1.5 percent and a maximum of 3.5 percent.
