Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Persecution And Confinement In Cirebon Due To Debt

Cirebon City Police, West Java, arrested a man with the initials TH (38) on suspicion of being the perpetrator of mistreatment and confinement of victim SHA (39) related to debt problems.

"TP was secured by the police thanks to a report from one of the victims' families who did not accept the incident," said Cirebon City Police Chief AKBP Muhammad Rano Hadiyanto as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 25.

The perpetrator's actions in the form of beating the victim's face six times using his bare hands and wearing a helmet twice.

This incident started, said the Police Chief, when the suspect was walking, then saw the victim. After that, TP immediately went and abused the victim.

From the results of the examination, he said, the perpetrator also took the victim to a place in Kertawinangun Village to discuss and make a debt agreement on Wednesday (6/3).

During the confinement, the victim was forced by the suspect to sell 1 television unit and seize the book document of motor vehicle owners (BPKB) as collateral for repayment of debt.

The family who knew about the incident then reported it to the Cirebon City Police Satreskrim. In a relatively fast time, said the Police Chief, the perpetrator was arrested without a fight.

"We also managed to secure evidence in the form of motorbikes, helmets, BPKB belonging to the victim's family, as well as post-mortem results from the hospital," said the Police Chief.

As a result of this act, the perpetrators were charged with Article 368, Article 333, and Article 351 concerning the crime of extortion and seizing a person's independence or persecution.

"The maximum penalty is 9 years in prison," he said.
