BOGOR - Bogor City Police, West Java, revealed the cause of the flow of the Ciliwung River in Kedunghalang Village foaming due to soap waste from the plastic waste warehouse on the edge of the river.

Bogor City Police Chief Kombes Bismo Teguh Prakoso revealed that the owner of the plastic waste warehouse with the initials M (49 years old) had been investigated by the police.

Bismo said M is a collector of plastic waste such as jerry cans, cans, and cans. One of the plastic waste that M collects comes from the soap at home industry in Citeureup, Bogor Regency.

"When he received this item, there were still residual waste from washing soap, clothing soap, and floor soap. Now this person is washing rice cans in the river, which makes the river seeds," Bismo said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 25.

Currently, said Bismo, his party has coordinated with the Bogor City Environment Agency (DLH) which is conducting laboratory tests of the remaining liquid found from the plastic abundance warehouse.

"If there is a dangerous content of the waste, of course if it violates the law, we will check it further," he said.

Bismo said that for this incident, his party used Article 104 of Law 32/2009 on environmental protection.

"People are prohibited from mixing without permission, they can be criminally charged," he said.

The appearance of foam in the Ciliwung River, Kedung Halang Village, was first seen by residents on Saturday (23/3) morning. The findings were then reported to the Ciliwung Naturalization Task Force, regional elements, and DLH Bogor City.

A joint team from the Bogor City Government consisting of the Ciliwung Naturalization Task Force, DLH, Satpol PP, BPBD, sub-district and sub-district government conducted an investigation to find the cause of foam in the Ciliwung River, and sealed a transit warehouse suspected of disposing waste into the river.
