Police Arrest Gang Of Pickup Car Thieves In Bogor

The Bogor Police have arrested a gang of pickup thieves operating in the Bogor and Bekasi areas since 2017.

Bogor City Police Chief Kombes Bismo Teguh Prakoso revealed that the police arrested two of the four people in the gang, while the other two people were still being chased.

"They stole a pickup because according to the suspects many were looking for it, and the security element at the location of the theft was minimal from guarding because it was in the villages," Bismo said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 23.

He explained that the modus operandi of the perpetrators was to remove the original characteristics of the car until it was disguised. Then damage the socket using the T key.

"On average, we get wages or a profit of Rp. 1 million to Rp. 2 million. We are still chasing two more perpetrators," he said.

Head of the Bogor City Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Lutfi Olot Gigantara, said that the two people who were still being chased acted as pickers of stolen goods.

The police received information from the perpetrators that their crimes had been carried out since 2017.

"His confession has stolen more than five times, but we are still investigating it because starting from 2017 it must have been several times. The crime scene in the villages," said Lutfi.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of nine years in prison.
