North Sumatra Police Arrest Woman Perpetrator Of Fraud Taruna Akpol Mode, Victim Of Money Deposit Rp1.2 Billion

MEDAN - Sub-Directorate IV of Renakta, Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) arrested a woman with the initials NW in a case of alleged fraud and embezzlement by passing to become a cadet of the Police Academy (Akpol).

"Investigators today also searched and conducted an examination of NW who was arrested in the Percut Sei Tuan area, Deli Serdang Regency," said North Sumatra Police Criminal Investigation Director Kombes Sumaryono in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 21.

Dalam penyelidikan terhadap tersangka NW tersebut sudah memenuhi pada unsur formal dan materiil.

"Officers also secured a number of evidences including cellphones, receipts, electronic evidence, proof of money transfers and bank statements," he said.

According to Sumaryono, in this case, investigators have examined 16 witnesses by recording the same four reports related to the alleged fraud and embezzlement.

"The suspect was charged with Articles 372 and 378 of the Criminal Code regarding embezzlement and fraud," he said.

Sumaryono continued that NW committed fraud against the victim on behalf of Afnir on August 25, 2023, with the victim being lured by his son being included in the Police Academy by paying a sum of money.

Some time later, NW again promised because there was a remaining quota that could include the victim's child as an Akpol cadet.

"However, after a few months, the victim's child never entered the police, until finally reported to the North Sumatra Police on February 8, 2024 with a total loss suffered by the victim of Rp. 1.2 billion," he said.
