Today's Weather, BMKG Reminds Potential Rain Accompanied By Strong Winds In West Java And Maluku

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that there is the potential for rain in a number of areas in the country with several areas predicted to experience heavy rain accompanied by strong winds such as in West Java and Maluku.

In an early weather warning quoted from the BMKG website, Thursday, March 21, heavy rains are predicted to fall in a number of areas in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Banten, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara.

Other areas with the potential for heavy rain include those in West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Papua and Papua.

Meanwhile, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi are predicted to experience rain with lighter intensity.

BMKG also reminded the potential for strong winds in West Java and Maluku.

Major cities that are predicted to experience rain today include Pangkal Pinang and Palembang which can experience thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate-intensity rains have the potential to fall in Serang, Jayapura, Mamuju and Makassar. Meanwhile, other cities are predicted to experience sunny cloudy weather.

Especially in the DKI Jakarta area, light rain is predicted to fall in West Jakarta at noon, night and early morning. Central Jakarta and North Jakarta have the potential to experience light rain at night as well as South Jakarta and East Jakarta in the afternoon and early morning.

BMKG also warned that a number of areas were included in the alert category for the impact of heavy rains, including floods, namely a number of points in South Sumatra, Banten, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Southeast Sulawesi, West Papua and Papua.
