NasDem Starts To Hesitate And Re Thinks About Rolling Out The Right To Question After Announcement Of The Results Of The Election

Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, has now expressed his doubts about the discourse on the right to inquiry being rolled out in the DPR to investigate allegations of election fraud.

This doubt was conveyed after the KPU announced the results of the 2024 election vote acquisition. Surya admitted that he was optimistic about the current decline in the right to inquiry.

"The question is, is it still possible that the effectiveness that will be obtained by NasDem or anyone who carries out the right of inquiry in the current condition on the board? We need to think about this together," said Surya at NasDem Tower, Gondangdia, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 20.

Surya admitted, initially NasDem expressed his support for proposing the right of inquiry in parliament solely due to respect for constitutional rights held by council members.

However, seeing the current dynamics of democracy, according to Surya, it no longer prioritizes the principles of deliberation and consensus, but the most votes.

"When we face the most votes, we have to think first we have a lot of votes yet," he said.

Surya admitted that he still respects other parties who still want to realize the right of inquiry. However, now NasDem will rethink his attitude by considering the opportunity for success of the right of inquiry in investigating allegations of election fraud.

"What is NasDem's attitude? We will evaluate it first. We see a bigger party in its position in today's people's representative council is not NasDem as the biggest party. Even PDIP colleagues took the first initiative to roll out the right of inquiry," said Surya.

"Well, we'll see how far the progress is. So, the party with the number of votes that are not number one from the results of the 2024 General Election may first take a look at the parties that get the most votes and seats," he added.

It is known that the KPU has officially determined the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as the winner of the 2024 General Election with 96,214,691 votes or 58.58 percent of all national valid votes.

Then, the presidential and vice presidential candidates number 2 Anies-Muhaimin received 40,971,906 votes or 24.95 percent. Meanwhile, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD received 27,040,878 votes or 16.47 percent. The total valid votes for the 2024 Presidential Election are 164,227,475 votes.

The Prabowo-Gibran pair's votes were superior in 66 out of 128 overseas election committee offices (PPLN). In addition, Prabowo-Gibran is also superior in 36 provinces, except for Aceh and West Sumatra which were won by candidate pair number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar.
