Women's Deli Vs Truck Train Accident Breaks Through Crossing, PT KAI Demands Driver

MEDAN - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Divre I North Sumatra evacuated the Putri Deli train which crashed into a truck in Serdang Bedagai, Tuesday, March 19 evening, and will demand compensation for truck drivers who broke through the crossing.

"We will sue in accordance with applicable regulations and laws," said KAI Public Relations Manager of Divre I North Sumatra Anwar Solikhin as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 20.

Currently, PTKAI is still calculating material and non-material losses from the incident.

KA Putri Deli (U76A), the Medan-Tanjung Balai relationship, had an accident at a maintained crossing (JPL Number 31) Km 44+300 plots of road between Perbaungan Station and Lidah Tanah Station, Serdang Bedagai, Tuesday night at 20.24 WIB.

Based on information from officers at the location, Anwar said the truck with license plate number BK 9223 YQ broke through the crossing barrier which had been closed because the Putri Deli train was about to pass.

In the middle of the railroad line, the truck broke down so that the Putri Deli train hit the back of the truck.

"As a result, the driver and assistant to the Deli Women's KA (U76A) driver were injured because they were pinched and have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, all 317 passengers of the Deli Women's train were safe," said Anwar.

The KAI team has also sent a rescue locomotive to the location for the evacuation process of the Putri Deli train which was unable to continue its journey due to damage to the locomotive.

KAI together with the regional team also moved the truck body on the rail so that the lane could be passed.

KAI North Sumatra Divre also provides service recovery services to passengers of the Putri Deli train whose trips have been hampered. Some trains also experience delays due to lanes that cannot be passed.

PT KAI Divre I North Sumatra regretted the incident, and appealed to all public road users to be disciplined and prioritize safety in traffic by complying with signs and prioritizing train travel.

"We apologize to train customers for the inconvenience and delay caused by the temperan (collision, red) of the truck with the Putri Deli train," said Anwar.
