JAKARTA - Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) Suhartoyo said Constitutional Justices who handled the 2024 General Election Result Dispute (PHPU) case were given security assistance.

"Judges as usual, perhaps usually in the sense that in conditions they are handling cases of Legislative Elections (Pileg), Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres), and Regional Head Elections (Pilkada), there is always security assistance maybe at residences or on trips," Suhartoyo said at the Constitutional Court building, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 19.

He said all Constitutional Justices would participate in handling the PHPU case unless the specified one could not handle it. In addition, according to him, the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) will also participate in supervising the case handling process.

Regarding the status of Judge Arsul Sani in handling the PHPU for the presidential election, Suhartoyo still could not answer with certainty and said that the panel of judges would still hold a meeting to determine his position.

It is known that Arsul Sani had previously committed not to be involved in a legislative dispute related to the United Development Party (PPP), while regarding the PHPU regarding the results of the presidential election, Arsul handed it over to the agreement of eight constitutional judges.

“Nah itu pertanyaannya belum terjawab. Nanti dirapatkan kalau tentang Pak Arsul,” ujar Suhartoyo.

The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court also reminded that the registration period or application for PHPU for the presidential election is no later than three days after the announcement of the 2024 presidential election results.

"If you look at PMK Number 5 of 2023, there are already stages of handling cases, both the legislative and presidential elections. So if tomorrow Wednesday (20/3) the KPU announces that the term for the presidential election is valid for three days, it means that the submission period will start on Thursday (21/3)," he said.

The case handling period is a maximum of 14 days from the stage of recording the application in the Electronic Constitutional Case Registration Book (e-BRPK).

"Anyway, time has broken, but the exact date doesn't know because it depends what day the start will be. What affects the 14 days since the BRPK, but it's not necessarily an application, so don't make assumptions first," he said.
