DKI KPU Announces Independent/Individual Cagub-Cawagub Requirements

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta General Election Commission announced registration requirements for candidates for governor and deputy governor from the individual route for the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

"The nomination can be proposed by political parties, coalitions of political parties and individuals registered or registered at the provincial KPU which will be held from May 5 to August 19, 2024," said Chairman of the DKI Jakarta KPU Wahyu Dinata as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 19.

In accordance with Article 41 of Law Number 10 of 2016, individual governor and deputy governor candidate candidates can register in the 2024 governor and deputy governor elections if they meet the requirements for support for the number of people who have the right to vote and are contained in the permanent voter list (DPT) in the general election or previous elections.

“Surat penyataan dukungan bakal pasangan calon perseorangan gubernur dan wakil gubernur DKI Jakarta menggunakan format yang dapat diunduh di laman webside https://jakarta.kpu.go.id/ KPU Provinsi DKI Jakarta," ujarnya.

The format will be accompanied by attaching proof of population identity in the form of photocopies of electronic ID cards or photocopies of electronic ID card recording information from the DKI Population and Civil Registration Office.

Supporters who are age and work listed in the identity of the population do not meet the requirements and do not comply with the current conditions of the supporters, can submit a statement of supporting identity.

The identity statement stated that the person concerned had/had married and/or no longer had a job as stated in the identity of the population.

The registration of support with the provisions, namely (1) provinces with a total of up to 2,000,000 voters must be supported by at least 10 percent of more than 2,000,000 people.

The population of up to 6,000,000 people must be supported by at least 8.5 percent and the population of more than 6,000,000 people to 12,000,000 people must be supported by at least 7.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the population of more than 12,000,000 people must be supported by at least 6.5 percent.

Then, (2) the amount of support as referred to in number (1) must be spread in more than 50 percent of the total district/city area in the province concerned.

The results of the recapitulation of the use of voting rights in DKI Jakarta Province in the 2024 General Election were 6,558,734 voters with details of men 3,147,199 people, women 3,411,535 people and disabled voters as many as 24,981 people.
