Father Raped Child Until Giving Birth To 4 Children Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison

AMBON - The Ambon District Court judges sentenced Markus Tehuguring to 15 years in prison, a defendant in the crime of sexual intercourse with his biological child to four children.

"Declaring that the defendant is legally and convincingly proven guilty of violating Article 81 paragraph (3) of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection," said Chief Justice Martha Maitimu accompanied by two member judges at the Ambon District Court as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 19.

In its ruling, the panel of judges also sentenced the defendant to pay a fine of Rp. 60 million, subsidiary to six months in prison.

The judge's decision is also lighter than the demands of the Ambon Public Prosecutor's Office, Elsye B. Leunupan, who in the previous trial demanded 20 years in prison.

Based on this decision, both the prosecutor and the defendant through their legal advisor expressed their thoughts.

The disclosure of this case of sexual intercourse of a biological child since the end of 2023 by local residents who suspect that one of the defendant's children is pregnant repeatedly even though she is not married.
