Four Perpetrators Of Police Beating In Makassar During Delivery Of Bodies Arrested

Makassar Police arrested four perpetrators of beating a member of the National Police named M Fathul Hidayat on Inspeksi Street PAM hallway 3, Manggala District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

"They are the initials MH, R, RH and H, one of whom is still a minor," said Makassar Police Chief Kombes Mokh Ngajib as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 19.

The arrest, said the Police Chief, was a follow-up to the incident that began with the convoy of corpse delivery to be buried followed by a group of motorbikes that were running recklessly on Monday, March 18, 2024, on Abdullah Daeng Sirua Street.

Furthermore, the victim, one of the members of the National Police at that time was on duty but the road was controlled by them and then a collision occurred. After that, the corpse delivery immediately carried out beatings, destruction, and mistreatment of the victim.

"There were several injuries on the victim's body including the back head, hands, and left temple with bruises," Ngakb told reporters.

Due to this incident, an investigation was immediately carried out and the perpetrators were revealed with their arrests on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 01.30 WITA on Jalan Inspeksi PAM, aisle 3.

It is known that the four perpetrators were named Muh Hisyam alias Ikhsan (20), Rahmat alias Aco (20), Ronaldi alias Ronal (27) while H (17) alias Bus was still a minor. Meanwhile, the other five perpetrators are the initials GMP, RKY, JY, EI, aka Ponco and SBR alias Biak are now in the DPO and are being chased by the police.

"Three of them are students, then one daily worker is released. Meanwhile, there are still five DPOs (People Search Lists) that we are pursuing," he said.

The perpetrators were threatened with Article 170 paragraphs (1) and (2) of the Criminal Code regarding beatings, it was stated that anyone who openly and with joint staff used violence against people or goods, and intentionally destroyed goods or if the violence used resulted in injuries being threatened with a maximum imprisonment of seven years.

"Of course, with this incident we appeal to the public that when delivering the corpse from the funeral home to the funeral home or if the police escort is carried out, they are ready to guard it without being charged, free of charge, so everything is free. This is so that the escort of this corpse delivery can be orderly," he said.
