JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) formed a task force that handles cases of disputes over the 2024 General Election, both presidential-vice presidential and legislative member elections.
These task forces officially took their oath of office today. In reading the oath of office guided by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo, members of the task force promised to obey all laws and regulations.
Then, the task force also vowed not to accept promises or gifts in any form allegedly related to the position of handling the 2024 election dispute.
Then, they also vowed to hold the secret of something that must be kept secret. Furthermore, maintaining integrity, discipline, dedication and professionalism, and not abusing authority and avoiding disgraceful acts.
Suhartoyo hopes that the newly inaugurated members of the task force will continue to hold the oathed commitment because their duty is related to justice for the democratic process in Indonesia.
"They are part of a fundamental element that can deliver cases that are present at the Constitutional Court, then can be processed in accordance with the provisions, and which is expected to provide justice to justice seekers," said Suhartoyo at the Constitutional Court building, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, March 19.
If the members of the task force violate their oath, Suhartoyo reminds them of the sanctions that will be imposed. Including the Constitutional Court judges who led the trial.
"If there are sanctions, there are staff regulations for employees. If judges, there are ethics, there are even other laws that can ensnare them," he said.
Furthermore, Suhartoyo said that this task force would immediately work to deal with disputes over the results of the 2024 General Election, starting from submitting applications, verifying files, registering, and processing application data, to trial.
It is scheduled that the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia will announce the results of the recapitulation of the 2024 General Election at the latest national level on March 20, 2024.
Then, the deadline for submitting the PHPU application to the Constitutional Court for the presidential election is no later than three days after the announcement of the KPU's determination of the vote acquisition, while for the legislative election no later than 3x24 hours after the announcement of the KPU's vote acquisition.
"If there is no change in determining the results of the PHPU which is scheduled for the 20th, then starting tomorrow we will be ready and will start accepting applications, both related to presidential election disputes and legislative disputes," he added.
