BOGOR - The Parungpanjang Police Sector of the Bogor Police followed up on reports of illegal levies (extortion) by thugs against special mining transportation drivers.

Parungpanjang Police Chief Kompol Suharto revealed that his members had conducted an investigation into information on extortion practices on Jalan Raya Mohamad Toha, Parungpanjang, Bogor Regency, West Java, precisely on the Bogor-Tangerang border bridge.

"The police took action by looking for direct information from truck drivers," said Suharto, Tuesday, March 19.

He said the drivers admitted that they were charged when entering a parking bag in the Tangerang area with a range of Rp. 10 thousand-Rp. 25 thousand per truck

Suharto ensured that the results of the interim investigation stated that the drivers were free of charge when entering the Parungpajang area.

"For the time being, no illegal levies were found on the drivers of tronton and ankle cars as rumored by several reports by print and online media," he said.

According to him, the perpetrators of extortion in parking bags in Tangerang Regency took advantage of the trial of Bogor Regent Regulation number 56 of 2023 which limits the operation of mining transportation only at 22.00 WIB - 05.00 WIB, and specifically for uncharged trucks can pass at 13.00 WIB - 16.00 WIB.

"It is suspected that there are people who take advantage of the current situation and conditions for the benefit of groups/privates, so that negative issues arise that can damage the current security and security situation," said Suharto.

He said the police had coordinated with related parties to control the rules for operating hours for special mining transportation as regulated in Perbup 56 of 2023.

"Parungpanjang Police will continue to investigate the news, and if extortion is found, it will be processed according to the applicable regulations and regulations," he said.
