JAKARTA The smuggling of tens of thousands of ecstasy pills was successfully thwarted by the Indonesian Navy at Tengkayu 1 Port, SDF Tarakan, North Kalimantan. Based on information from the Navy Information Service, 100 Inex ecstasy pills and 96,000 Double L pills have been secured.

The smuggling attempt was thwarted by personnel of the XIII Tarakan Naval Main Base (Lantamal) on Friday, March 15. At around 08.00 WIB, a closed monitoring was carried out by a team from Lantamal XIII, during loading and unloading activities for motorboats that docked at the port Pier.

The team carried out inspections of ships that were docked including KM Pioneer Cargo, KM Putra Jaya and KM Nur Hidayah 02. When carrying out inspections at KM Pioneer Cargo, the team suspected a brown cardboard box wrapped neatly and without the identity of the sender or recipient, only bearing the initials R.

Furthermore, the team coordinated with the captain to check the goods, after examining the goods there were piles of white plastic bottles in the cardboard containing pills suspected of being Inner type ecstasy totaling 100 pills and Double L pills totaling 96,000 pills.

From the information obtained by the captain of the ship, the goods will be sent to Tanjung Selor with the recipient on behalf of R. Furthermore, the Tarakan Lantamal XIII team carried out developments for the arrest of the perpetrator/owner by sailing using KM Pioneer Cargo.

Sunday, March 17, at around 08.10 WITA when the ship docked at Kayana IV Pier, Tanjung Selor, 2 people suspected of being couriers using a minibus that took the narcotics items. The Tarakan Lantamal XIII team immediately arrested 2 people with the initials S (35) and MS (30) who were suspected of being couriers of goods.

Furthermore, the suspected courier and evidence were brought to the Mako Lantamal XIII Tarakan for an internal examination, from the results of the development obtained data that the item belonged to someone who used the cellphone number from Tawau. The suspected courier and evidence will be handed over to the provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN) for further investigation.
