Discussing The DKJ Bill, PKS Proposes Jakarta To Be The Legislative Capital

JAKARTA - Member of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction, Hermanto suggested that the state capital be divided into three clusters, namely executive, legislative, and judicial.

During the discussion of the Draft Law on the Special Region of Jakarta (RUU DKJ) yesterday, Hermanto suggested that Jakarta be the special capital city of the legislature.

"We also need to consider segmenting the capital city of this country. Namely, later we could divide the nation's capital into three clusters," said Hermanto, quoted on Saturday, March 16.

According to him, the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago in East Kalimantan can become the capital city filled with executives. Then, Jakarta can focus on becoming the capital city of the legislature.

"I suggest that we take the particularity for DKI from its legislative function. The DPD RI is here, the DPR is here, the area is also very wide, very comfortable for us to meet," he said.

Then for the judicial cluster, Hermanto assessed, for the time being, he could remain in Jakarta until he found other provinces that were deemed suitable for state-of-the-art judicial institutions.

According to Hermanto, the distribution of three Indonesian capitals will optimize each function. In addition, the policy is also considered to make it easier for the public to express their aspirations.

"Well, so I prefer to see that Jakarta's specificity lies in the question of the legislature, we project Jakarta as a state capital whose function is to produce laws," he said.
