Minister Of Communication And Information Budi Arie Asks The Public To Receive Official Results For The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Infomatics Budi Arie Setiadi appealed to the public to receive the official results of the 2024 General Election which will be announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU) no later than March 20.

"Because the people have cast their votes, we have made a decision, we accept the results, wait while waiting for the official results submitted by the election organizers, in this case, namely the General Elections Commission," he said in a press release, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 16.

He said this after attending the National Editor's Meeting on Issues and Developments after the 2024 General Election, at the Office of the Public Broadcasting Institute for Television of the Republic of Indonesia, Central Jakarta, Thursday (14/3).

Budi Arie said the biggest challenge was not only to compete between candidates or political parties, but also to potential community polarization. Especially in public spaces, recently many narratives have circulated about cheating the results of the 2024 General Election.

According to the Minister of Communication and Information, the narrative of election fraud will affect the legitimacy of the 2024 Simultaneous Election process. Even though at this time, there are no more restrictions on space and time, especially in cyberspace.

In addition, the public can upload all the calculated results from each polling station (TPS).

The entire people can also see the results of the vote in the election. So, everything is open starting from the way the list chooses, calculates the recapitulation of votes, etc. Statements from the election guard.org, it is clear that there is no fraud in the 2024 General Election," he said.

Budi Arie emphasized that currently the Government is trying to support the KPU to explain to all parties that the democratic party has been going well.

The Minister of Communication and Information stated that people at the grassroots can accept results because in democracy they lose and win are common.

"This is a matter of harmonization, reconciliation has already occurred at the grassroots, the community is better. I hope that we will get together again, because the election is over. So, we reunite to build and advance Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Usman Kansong stated that the KPU had opened the implementation of the 2024 General Election as the organizer.

According to him, the KPU conducts press conferences every day to convey information about the implementation of the General Election.

"So actually the disclosure has happened, only perhaps the statement quoted, especially on social media is cut into pieces, so that the public does not get it in its entirety. But if it's in the mainstream media, I think it's safe," he said

Usman also encouraged the media to take the source of in-depth news presentation from the grassroots community.

"It turns out that at the grassroots, people have been active as usual, people are breaking the fast together, although maybe the political choices are different in the elections on February 14, 2024 yesterday, but everything is running normally as usual," he concluded.
