Vice President Optimistic Target Of 10 Million Halal Certified Products Achieved This Year

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin believes that the target of 10 million halal certified products can be achieved this year, in accordance with the target set by the Ministry of Religion through the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH).

"Optimistic achieved," said the Vice President after opening the 2024 Riau Islands Ramadan Fair (KURMA) and the Go Global Halal Product Seminar in Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands Province, through an official statement reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 15.

The Vice President revealed that currently, halal certified products are still around 3 million products, or have not yet reached the target.

The Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH) also acknowledged that there were obstacles in the 2024 budget limitation to pursue targets.

According to the Vice President, the government has been committed to encouraging halal product certification, including by preparing various supporting infrastructures.

"Therefore, if there are technical problems, later we will look for us to continue (actation) so that this certification service continues to be carried out quickly," he said.

The program of 10 million halal certified products was launched by the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in 2022.

Acceleration of halal certification for 10 million products is considered an important breakthrough in encouraging national economic recovery.

Massive halal certification is expected to trigger the UMK to bounce back after more than two years of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
