Fisherman At Jelitik Harbor Found Dead, Colleague Says Victim Had Vomited Before Sinking

The joint SAR team found a fisherman named Sidi (61) who had disappeared and drowned in the waters of Jelitik Harbor, Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands, Thursday, March 14.

Previously, the search for victims was carried out by a joint SAR after the Pangkalpinang Search and Rescue Office received information on the incident since last Wednesday, March 13.

"The victim was found by the joint SAR team on Thursday morning at around 07.19 WIB, not far from the location where the victim was suspected of drowning. The victim was found dead," said Head of the Pangkalpinang Search and Rescue Office (Kansar), I Made Oka Astawa when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, March 14.

After being found, the victim's body was immediately evacuated by the joint SAR team. Then the victim's body was put into a body bag and taken to the funeral home in Sungailiat.

"Based on the testimony of eyewitnesses at the location, the victim was previously in the water vomiting and complained of headaches. The victim's colleague had tried to tell the victim to go up, but the victim insisted on waiting for the net that the victim had installed," he said.

A few moments later, the victim was seen already carried away by the current and drowned. Residents who knew about it were trying to search for the victim, but as of Wednesday night the victim had not been found.

"Then residents reported the incident to Kansar Pangkalpinang. With the success of finding the victim, the joint sar operation was officially closed," said Made Oka.
