JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) Daop 1 Jakarta starting today operating the New Generation Economic Train on KA (106) Gaya Baru Malam Selatan towards Pasar Senen Station - Surabaya Gubeng to increase passenger comfort.

"Now KAI is making the latest innovation by presenting the New Generation Economic Train, where the number of seats is 72 seats, so the leg rooms are wider," said KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Ixfan Hendriwintoko as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 14.

Meanwhile, the operation of the New Generation Economic Train on the New Night South Gaya Train towards Surabaya Gubeng Station Pasarsenen will only start on Friday (15/3).

With this new train, there are now 460 seats for passengers of the New Night South Train with two executive trains with a total of 100 seats and five New Generation Economic Trains with a total of 360 seats.

In addition, there is also one train, one generator train, and one trunk train.

KA Gaya Baru Malam Selatan majoring Pasarsenen Station Surabaya Gubeng departed Pasarsenen at 11.00 WIB and arrived in Surabaya Gubeng at 00.13 WIB.

Meanwhile, for the opposite direction, the train series departed from Surabaya Gubeng at 12.00 WIB and arrived at Pasarsenen at 01.23 WIB.

Furthermore, Ixfan also reminded prospective passengers departing from Gambir, Pasarsenen, and Bekasi stations to bring luggage in accordance with the regulations that have been set.

"Customers are allowed to carry baggage without being charged a maximum additional fee of 20 kg with a maximum volume of 100 dm3 with a maximum dimension of 70 x 48 x 30 cm and a maximum of 4 items of baggage," he said.

Customers whose baggage exceeds this provision will be charged Rp. 10,000/kg for executive class, Rp. 6,000/kg for business class, and Rp. 2,000/kg for economic class.

In order not to be charged an additional fee, he advised passengers carrying luggage to exceed the specified limits to transport their baggage by using train expedition services such as KAI Logistics.

"We hope that all customers comply with baggage rules when using train services, so that train travel remains comfortable and fun," said Ixfan.
