JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) together with 27 state-owned companies (BUMN) signed a cooperation agreement at the KPK building.

This agreement deals with the handling of complaints in an effort to eradicate corruption through an integrated Whistle Blowing System (WBS).

This activity was attended by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir, LPSK Chairman Hasto Atmojo Suroyo, and the board of directors of 27 BUMNs.

"Through this integrated WBS cooperation agreement, it is hoped that it will avoid duplication, increase synergy and monitor corruption complaints received by each agency with the KPK, so as to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of complaint handling", said KPK spokesman for the Prevention Sector. Ipi Maryati in her statement, Tuesday, March 2.

A total of 27 BUMNs that signed this cooperation were divided into five signing processes. The first batch consisted of Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Tabungan Negara, and PT Taspen. For the second batch, there are Pertamina, PLN, Jasa Marga, PT Telkom Indonesia, and PT INTI.

Then, the third batch consisted of PT Adhi Karya, PT Waskita Karya, PT Wijaya Karya, PT Hutama Karya, and PT Pembangunan Perumahan. Furthermore, in batch four there are Garuda Indonesia, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II, PT Angkasa Pura I, PT Bahana Pembina Usaha Indonesia, and PT Asset Management Company.

The last or fifth wave consists of PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminum, PT Kereta Api Indonesia, PT Krakatau Steel, PT Pupuk Indonesia, PT Semen Indonesia, and Perhutani.

As previously reported, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir in his remarks admitted that he was surprised by the number of legal cases that ensnared the ministry he led.

"At the beginning, when I worked, of course when I opened the data regarding legal cases in BUMN, the number was extraordinary, 159 and the number of suspects was approximately 53", said Erick as quoted from YouTube KPK RI channel, Tuesday, March 2.

This condition then made the Ministry of BUMN clean up by prioritizing transparency to prevent the occurrence of criminal acts of corruption. In addition, his party also continues to improve the system and select leaders with integrity so as to minimize the occurrence of corruption cases.

"Of course, as a leader, I think in reverse. How should the Ministry of BUMN have to introspect themselves compared to violating those who have been affected", he said.
