Police Name Suspect Of Persecution Of Santri To Death In Kaluda Lampung

LAMPUNG - The South Lampung Police have named one suspect in the case of the death of a student at the Miftahul Huda 606 Islamic Boarding School, Agom Village, Kalianda District, who is suspected of being a victim of persecution.

"We have examined 12 witnesses and yesterday we have named a suspect against one person with the initials A (17)," said South Lampung Police Chief AKBP Yusriandi Yusrin.

The police chief said that suspect A was suspected of beating the victim in the stomach, resulting in the victim's death on the evening of training in preparation for the increase in the pencak silat belt at the Miftahul Huda 606 Islamic Boarding School.

"Well, in the future, later we will hold a pre-reconstruction title, then we will complete the full reconstruction to complete the investigation file," he said.

Yusriandi said the alleged perpetrator was one of the pencak silat coaches at the boarding school where the victim studied.

"The perpetrator is a coach and is still in the santri category, but he is already senior and has been asked as a coach of the victim. For his motive, this is about the initiative dowry of their own. We have also taken information from the pencak silat expert about the physical violence and the expert said no," he said.

The alleged abuse incident occurred on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at around 01.30 WIB in the Miftahul Huda 606 Islamic Boarding School, Banyumas Hamlet, Agom Village. The victim of the persecution was an student with the initials M (16) while attending a level increase training at the PSHT pencak silat college.

"The article we apply to the perpetrators is Article 75Cjuncto Article 80 Paragraph 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison," explained the Police Chief.
