Denpasar Police Reveals Smuggling Of 2.3 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine From The Pangkalpinang Network

Denpasar Police revealed an attempt to smuggle 2.3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 571 ecstasy pills weighing 145 grams from the Pangkalpinang network, Bangka Belitung Islands-Bali.

Head of the Denpasar Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, Kompool Yogie Pramagita, said the methamphetamine and ecstasy narcotics were secured from the perpetrator with the initials KT (48).

The perpetrator, who was a drug case recidivist in 2015 and was sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in Pangkalpinang Prison, was arrested on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 19.30 WITA in the parking area of the Jalan Raya Denpasar-Gilimanuk gas station, Ubung Kaja Village, Denpasar City.

"The perpetrator, who works as a driver, was arrested along with two of his friends near the gas station while looking for a toilet," Yogie said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 13.

The disclosure of the drug smuggling case began with information regarding the delivery of large amounts of methamphetamine and ecstasy by land using a car from Pangkalpinang to Denpasar, Bali.

The Denpasar Police Opsnal team who heard the information immediately prepared supervision at the entrance of Gilimanuk, Jembrana, and the Tabanan route, Bali, since Friday, March 8, 2024 at 19.00 WITA.

On Saturday, March 9, 2023, at around 13.30 WITA, the team at Gilimanuk post suspected that three people were in the Honda Freed car with police number BN 1209 PY. The team then followed the three suspected perpetrators to the Sempidi gas station parking area, Jalan Raya Denpasar-Gilimanuk, who at that time got out of the car walking to the toilet.

After being searched, the police found a drug package behind the car door.

"The person concerned admitted that he brought methamphetamine and ecstasy drugs that were smuggled in the back of the car," said Yogie.

From the results of the examination, two people who were with the KT perpetrators, namely RSdan RM, were only invited to take a walk to Bali and did not know the methamphetamine and ecstasy in the car. Both of them are the children of the perpetrators of KT.

"Both of them did not know that there was methamphetamine in the car. One of their biological children (the perpetrator) and one of their adopted children," said the former Kuta police chief.

The suspect KT admitted that he was only ordered by a boss whose identity had not been identified to bring narcotics of methamphetamine and ecstasy from Pangkalpinang to Bali with a promise of Rp. 32 million. The cost of traveling to Bali has been disbursed in the amount of Rp. 7 million and after the goods arrived at the customer in Denpasar, KT was promised Rp. 25 million.

The modus operandi used by the perpetrators was to store methamphetamine and ecstasy in the back door of his Honda Freed car.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 112 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics with a minimum imprisonment of 5 years.
