Jambi City Government Accommodates 776 Traders Selling At Bedug Market

JAMBI - Jambi City Government (Pemkot) accommodates 776 traders to sell at the Bedug Market managed by the local government during Ramadan 1445 H.

Acting Mayor of Jambi Sri Purwaningsih in Jambi, Tuesday, said the Jambi City Government managed three Bedug Market locations in Pasar Kota Jambi District.

"The Bedug market is an annual agenda that has become part of efforts to stimulate the growth of small business actors, especially businesses in the culinary and snack fields," Sri said during the agenda for the inauguration of the Bedug Market in the Jambi City Market area.

This Bedug Market momentum is expected to be able to foster the spirit of new entrepreneurs, as well as increase business opportunities for MSME players to continue to develop their business to be more creative and produce healthy food and drinks.

"I hope that the culinary delights sold in the Bedug Market area can prioritize traditional foods that are clean, sterile and are characteristic of the region, especially the typical culinary delights of Jambi City. We must be proud that Jambi City culinary is no less delicious with culinary delights in other areas in Indonesia," he said.

He hopes that the 2024 Bedug Market managed by the Jambi City Government can become a medium for the community, to get to know every typical traditional food, as part of the wisdom of local culture and regional culture. To the community, Sri advised to maintain order and cleanliness at the Bedug Market location.

Head of the Jambi City Industry and Trade Office (Perindag) Amran said as many as 776 traders had registered since early March 2024. Hundreds of traders were spread across three Bedug Market locations managed by the Jambi City Government.

He mentioned 480 traders on Jalan WR Supratman Pasar Jambi, 262 traders in the Gang Siku area, and 34 traders on Jalan Samratulangi, Pasar Jambi.

The Jambi City Government, he said, charged tariffs for selling traders. This tariff is charged for the costs of tents, cleanliness and security. The traders who fill the stalls at the Bedug Market consist of clothing traders, food, drinks and accessories.

"Some are included in the Jambi City PAD because it is indeed crowded, some have not been able to become PAD," he said.
