Social Service Builds Three Public Kitchens For Sahur Activities And Breaks Fasting For Kendari Flood Victims

JAKARTA A total of three public kitchen posts were established by the local city government to help eat sahur and break the fast for flood victims in Sodhoa and Sanua Kendari Villages. Head of the Kendari Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Fadlil Suparman said the public kitchen was managed by the local Social Service.

"Public kitchens in Sodhoa and Sanua sub-districts are managed by the Kendari City Social Service until tonight, so we are still preparing public kitchens for God willing and breaking the fast," said Fadlil, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, March 12.

He explained, there are three public kitchen posts built in three urban villages that are in dire need, namely in Kampung Salo Village. This public kitchen is managed by the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Social Service, but the logistics are from the Kendari City Social Service

The local government also built a public kitchen in Sanua Village which is located on Jalan Lasolo. This public kitchen is also the main post for receiving logistical assistance from various parties, because it is managed directly by the Kendari City Social Service.

"Then the third public kitchen was built in Wua-Wua Village in the Baito area, we call it the Baito area, Wua-Wua Village is in RW VI," said Fadlil.

Fadlil said that the Kendari City government would accompany the flood victims according to the direction of Acting Mayor of Kendari Muhammad Yusup.

"In addition, the Kendari Mayor has also ordered all OPD or regional apparatus organizations in the Kendari City Government to provide assistance in each village, and it has been divided," said Fadlil.

Fadlil also explained that as many as 45 out of 65 urban villages in Kendari City were affected by the flood that occurred on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at around 23.00 WITA.

As a result of the hydrometeorological disaster, 3,248 families (KK) were affected by the flood. However, the local government has not recorded the number of people because they are still focused on cleaning up mud and a number of materials in residents' houses.

Fadlil said the local government together with the provincial government to the TNI-Polri and a number of other social elements were struggling to help flood victims.

Fadlil added that although the flood had hit the area which caused residents' houses to be submerged, even Santa Anna Kendari Hospital to SMPN 2 Kendari was flooded, but no residents were displaced.

If the condition of the affected residents at several flood-prone points has receded, now it's just a matter of cleaning people's homes, be it mud or the rest of the puddles. Yesterday it was still drizzling if today Alhamdulillah it was sunny, hopefully it will remain like this, especially facing the beginning of fasting tomorrow," said Fadlil.

The Kendari City Government has also not identified the number of houses damaged to the total loss due to the hydrometeorological disaster.
