Deputy Chairperson Of The MPR: Nyepi Day And The Beginning Of Ramadan Together With Momentum To Make Tolerance

JAKARTA - MPR Deputy Chair Lestari Moerdijat said Nyepi Day and the early days of the Holy Month of Ramadan at the same time are a momentum to foster values of religious tolerance. He said inter-religious harmony must continue to be nurtured by strengthening the foundation of tolerance, by fostering mutual respect for the rights and obligations of every citizen.

"The implementation of different religious events that occur at the same time is part of the momentum to foster the values of tolerance and respect each nation's children in an effort to realize the harmony of fellow religious communities in the country," Lestari said in an official statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, March 11.

He said that respect between humans is an obligation in the process of nation and state. With diversity in various fields owned by Indonesia, he also believes that this can develop the values of tolerance.

According to him, the diversity that exists in the country must be able to be utilized as part of the strengths we have. In the process of building a nation and a country for the better, according to him, various potentials and resources need to be one strength.

Every citizen, according to him, can contribute positively in the development process in various fields to create a more equitable and prosperous society as mandated by our constitution.

For this reason, he hopes that every child of the nation must continue to increase knowledge to realize harmony among each other in every daily activity. So that according to him, the obedience of every religious community in carrying out worship can strengthen the unity and brotherhood of every child of the nation in Indonesia.

"Happy Nyepi Day to Hindus and Happy Ramadan fasting for Muslims in the country," he said.
