Improve Health Services, Manokwari Regency Government Targets Ambulance Procurement At Each Puskesmas

JAKARTA - Health services are in the spotlight in several parts of Indonesia. In Papua, for example, the increase in facilities will continue to be improved.

The Manokwari Regency Government, West Papua Province is trying to make every Puskesmas have an ambulance that is suitable for improving services to the community.

The Regent of Manokwari Hermus Indou in Manokwari, Sunday, said that not all Puskesmas in Manokwari Regency have infrastructure in the form of ambulances.

"I think we will fulfill the ambulance soon. Health centers are a priority that we need to prepare," he said, as reported by Antara (10/3/2024).

He said the urgency of fulfilling ambulances at each Puskesmas would be adjusted to the level of service needs. Health centers that have a large working area are trying to get two ambulances.

"Puskesmas-puskesmas yang penduduk sekitarnya banyak perlu didorong untuk mendapatkan fasilitas yang baik," katanya.

He said the government must pay attention to health facilities and health infrastructure in each puskesmas because puskesmas is at the forefront of public health services.

"We will collect data again so that later all puskesmas can have equal quality in providing health services to the community. If we build well, the government's image will also be good in the eyes of the community," he said.

One of the Puskesmas that does not have an ambulance is the Mowbja Health Center in Masni District.

Head of the Mowbja Health Center, Jelita R. Sinaga, said that although it was already the main accredited and had a new building, the Mowbja Health Center lacked a number of facilities including ambulances.

He said the ambulance, which has been owned since 2014, has been damaged and cannot be used to provide services to the community.

The ambulance has been used as an operational car for various services ranging from delivering sick people, pregnant women and even carrying bodies.

"The ambulance has gotten off the engine. Sometimes we bring it for services, often strikes in the middle of the road. We are also confused about how to do it and currently the ambulance is damaged," he said.

Jelita hopes that the government can pay attention by facilitating an ambulance to support the smooth running and continuity of services to the community.
