Natuna Regency Government Sets DHF KLB

NATUNA - The Natuna Regency Government (Pemkab), Riau Islands has determined that the dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) case in the area has the status of an extraordinary incident (KLB) to intensify the handling of the case.

Head of the Natuna Hikmat District Health Office, Aliansyah, said the determination was following the large number of people affected by the disease.

"The total number of patients since early January until now is around 38 people, but many have recovered," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 9.

He explained that the determination of the KLBDBD refers to the regulations issued by the Ministry of Health.

"For the determination, we refer to the number of patients, for example if there were no patients in the previous year and then in the current year there was even if there was only one case, it could be designated as a KLB and if we look at this year the number of patients is more than the previous year," he said.

Dengan ditetapkan kasus DBD menjadi KLB, katanya, maka penanganan yang dilakukan akan lebih serius.

"Later, the regent will issue a circular so that the sub-district, sub-district, and village governments can invite the community to work together," he said.

For areas with residents who have been infected with disease, he said, special treatment will be given by conducting epidemiological research.

He explained that this research was to find out the exact cause of residents in the area who were infected with dengue fever.

If the disease is caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, there will be absorption and cleaning of places that have the potential to become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

The epidemiological test, he said, was carried out within a radius of 100 meters from where the case was reported, while the infiltration was carried out within that radius.

According to him, eradicating larvae is an important thing, while infiltration is a further effort, after an epidemiological test is carried out by experts.

"We have to find out the cause, because if we immediately do fogging (infiltration) larvae and mosquitoes have the potential to become immune," he said.
