Konawe Flash Flood, Trans Sulawesi Line Completely Paralyzed

KENDARI - Jalan Trans Sulawesi was completely paralyzed due to flash floods as high as the knee of adults hitting Sampara District, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

Sampara Police Chief Ipda Kasibun said the flash flood incident on Jalan Trans Sulawesi occurred at around 19:00 WITA. The water flowing from the mountains flooded roads and residential areas in the area.

"Earlier, about 3 kilometers of long queues of vehicles and there was a total paralyzed route of more than three hours, now it is starting to return to normal," Kasibun said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 8.

As an anticipatory measure, his party has dispatched personnel to regulate traffic and help residents affected by the flash floods in Sampara District.

"We have anticipated that motorists have done it, earlier they were as high as their knees, so the four-wheeled car could not pass when the water came down from the mountain, sent from the mountain," he said.

The flash floods that flowed through Sampara District came from several other areas that ended up on Jalan Trans Sulawesi.

"There is aftershock water, if it is the area above the mountains, including up to the Districts of Ranomeeto and Pondidaha it is raining heavily, running water here (Sampara)," he explained.
