The East Java (East Java) Regional Police arrested two suspects in the case of hoarding thousands of liters of fuel oil (BBM) that occurred in the Sampang Regency and Ngawi Regency.

"Of these two cases, the perpetrators used the same mode, namely filling subsidized fuel using dump trucks," said Director of Criminal Investigation at the East Java Police, Kombes Luthfie Sulistiawan, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 7.

Luthfie said the first suspect with the initials AR was secured in Sampang Regency in January 2024 yesterday. The suspect admitted that he had been carrying out this hoarding activity for a long time in the past year.

The arrest of AR began when investigators from Sub-Directorate IV Tipidter of the East Java Police Ditreskrimsus pocketed information that there was a purchase of Pertalite type fuel using jerry cans at a gas station in the Sampang Regency area.

"The method is to use a truck unit filled with jerry cans. From the information concerned, it is for the purchase of pertalite at gas stations, to buy it at a price of Rp. 10,000," he said.

The purchase of subsidized fuel was put in dozens of jerry cans which were transported behind the suspect's truck. One jerry can contains 34 liters and a total of 59 jerry cans were secured.

When multiplied, the amount of pertalite fuel stored reaches around 2,006 liters. Suspect AR also sold the fuel again at a non-subsidized price.

"The person concerned can get a profit of 20,000 per jerry can, while we have managed to secure 59 jerry cans each containing 34 liters of the type of pertalite," he said.

Then, the police also arrested the suspect with the initials MAM in Ngawi Regency who abused bio solar subsidized fuel.

The suspect MAM bought subsidized fuel at a gas station in Ngawi Regency using a farmer barcode. The fuel was put in two jerry cans which were transported by two-wheeled vehicles repeatedly.

When arresting the suspect in January 2024, the police also secured evidence of two drums containing bio solar fuel with each capacity containing approximately 700 liters.

Although the suspect MAM was arrested, the police are still hunting for other suspects who are suspected of helping provide bio solar supplies.

"There are still more suspects S that we DPO is still. This is the person who subplayed this bio solar to the person concerned," said Lutfie.

As a result of his actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Natural Gas.

"The suspect faces up to six years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 60 billion," he said.

Region Manager Corporate Sales of Jatimbalinus Pertamina Patrainaga Pande Made Andi Suryawan expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the ranks of the police for taking continuous action against perpetrators of misuse of Subsidized Fuel.

"We see today is a real action against those who violate the misuse of fuel. We also convey our deepest appreciation to all ranks of the East Java Regional Police," he said.
