JAKARTA - Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives approved the granting of citizenship status for three Indonesian footballers, namely Thom Haye, Ragnar Oratmangoen, and Maarten Paes. The naturalization approval of the three football players for the Indonesian national team candidate was taken in a working meeting (raker) of Commission X DPR RI with the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Ad Interim Nezar Patria and Deputy Chairman of PSSI Zainudin Amali at the DPR Building, Thursday, March 7. "Commission X has decided to approve the citizenship recommendation in the name of Ragnar Oratmangoen, Thom Haye and Maarten Paes. With a note that the determination of Indonesian citizenship is determined by an authorized institution based on the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations,” said Deputy Chairman of Commission X DPR RI Hetifah Sjaifudian while chairing the meeting, Thursday, March 7. Hetifah then asked for the approval of the meeting participants for the conclusions read out. "Can the concept of conclusion be approved?" asked Hetifah. "Agreed," answered the meeting participants present. On that occasion, Menpora Ad Interim Nezar Patria explained the reasons for submitting applications for citizenship status to Thom, Ragnar, and Maarten. According to him, currently Garuda squad needs naturalized players to fill a number of positions.

"The Indonesian national team needs the position of goalkeepers, wingers, midfielders. Based on the request of the head coach of the Indonesian national team regarding the naturalization request of players of Indonesian descent named Ragnar Oratmangoen, Thom Haye and Maarten Paes," explained Nezar.
