GORONTALO - A village in North Gorontalo, Gorontalo Province, has been isolated due to the landslide that occurred since Thursday, March 7 in the morning

Member of Commission III of the North Gorontalo DPRD, Fatri Botutihe, received information from the village head of Cempaka Putih, Tolinggu District regarding the landslide disaster which caused the village at the end of the western region of this district to be isolated.

"Until now, residents of Cempaka Putih Village are still isolated because landslides have closed all roads in Papualangi Village that connect the village with the local government center," said Fatri.

The landslide point is in Papualangi Village which is directly adjacent to Cempaka Putih Village.

"According to the village head, the residents only knew about the disaster when they were about to start their morning activities. Due to the high rainfall, it is suspected that landslides had occurred since early Thursday. We hope that the local government will take quick steps to clean up the landslide material considering that there is no alternative access to and from the village," said Fatri.

His own party has not been able to visit the landslide location due to the high rainfall that has occurred since Wednesday afternoon (6/3) which is still pouring down.

Landslides also occurred in Sembihingan Village, Biau District. Landslide in the form of soil and rock material closes the main road access in the sub-district.

Access roads to and from the district capital cannot be passed by vehicles.

"The local government's quick steps are urgently needed, including alerting heavy equipment considering landslides are prone to occur along this western part of Sulawesi," said the woman in the headscarf.
