YOGYAKARTA - Prabowo Subianto poked at a number of state-owned companies that have a hotel business. The Minister of Defense and Presidential Candidate number 2 said that Indonesia does not need a state-owned hotel. So what are the SOEs that have a hotel business?

Prabowo Subianto proposed to Erick Thohir as the minister of BUMN, that the privatization of state-owned companies be expanded. The goal is that SOEs do not participate in entering the hotel business because it can hinder the private sector. Let's look at the series of SOEs that have a hotel business.

There are many state-owned companies that have penetrated the hotel business and have been running for ten years. There are various reasons these state-owned companies have also opened a hotel business, one of which is for the sake of optimizing assets.

The following are 10 state-owned companies that have hotel businesses spread across various cities:

Garuda Indonesia is known as one of the SOEs that has been in the hotel business for a long time, namely from 1974. This airline has a number of hotels managed under its subsidiary Aero Wisata. There are 4 luxury hotels owned by Garuda Indonesia, namely Prama Hotel Kila in Senggigi Lombok, Hotel in Sanur Bali, Hotel Asana in Bogor and Biak Papua.

Another BUMN that also participates in the hotel business is KAI. This government-owned rail company opens a hotel business in the form of lodging that is integrated with the station area. The first and only hotel that was established inside the train station was the Rail Transit Suite Gambir (RTSG). Another hotel owned by KAI is the KAI Boutique Hotel managed by PT KA Properti Manajemen.

Indonesia's mainstay state-owned company Pertamina has also penetrated the hotel business. This company is a hotel business player who manages 4-star and 5-star luxury hotels. In total there are 9 Pertamina-owned hotels located in Bali, Bandung, Jakarta, Semarang, Cirebon, Yogyakarta, Anyer, Parapat, and Dumai.

Angkasa Pura I also operates in the hotel business under the banner of its subsidiary, namely Angkasa Pura Airport. This airport operator company has 4 hotels, namely the Cordia Hotel in Yogyakarta, Ibis Budget Makassar, Ibis Budget Surabaya, and Hotel Novotel at Ngurai Rai Airport.

Construction company Adhi Karya is also included in the ranks of SOEs that have a hotel business. Adhi Karya has 3 hotels, namely GranDhika covering Gran Dhika Setiabu in Medan, GranDhika Iskandarsyah Hotel in Jakarta, and GranDhika Pemuda Hotel in Semarang.

Other SOEs that also penetrate the hotel business are PT Wijaya Karya Realty. This construction company has 26 hotels located in 11 provinces, including Pegadaian's Pesonna Hotel network.

Krakatau Steel is also included in the ranks of SOEs that open a hotel business. This steel producing company has a hotel managed under its subsidiary, namely PT Krakatau Industrial Estate Cilegon or KIEC. This luxury hotel in Cilegon called The Royale Krakatau Hotel was developed by KIEC.

BUMN Waskita Karya has 3 hotels spread across major cities, namely Jakarta, Bandung and Makassar. This state-owned company established a hotel under the name Teras Kita brand which is managed through its subsidiary, PT Waskita Karya Realty.

Other state-owned construction companies, PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP), also penetrate hotel businesses spread across big cities in the country. The hotel business network owned by PT PP is managed by its subsidiary, namely PT PP Properti. The list of hotels owned by BUMN includes Prima Park (Pekanbaru, Bandung, and Lombok), Park Hotel (Jakarta), Palm Park (Surabaya), and Swiss Bel (Balikpapan).

InJourney or PT Aviasi Wisata is a state-owned company whose business sector is most related to hotel businesses. This aviation and tourism company has several hotels under the auspices of PT Hotel Indonesia Natour with hotel chains in Java, Sumatra, and Bali.
