West Java Prosecutor's Office Detains 2 Officials Of Mitra Karya University Bekasi Related To Corruption Of The Kemdikbudristek PIPK Fund

The West Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has detained two suspects in the corruption of the Indonesia Smart Lecture Program (PIPK). Both are officials of Mitra Karya University (Umika) Bekasi.

Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasi Penkum) of the West Java Prosecutor's Office, Nur Sricahyawijaya, explained that the two suspects had the initials HJ as Chancellor of Umika for the period 2021 until now and S as Chancellor of Umika for the 2019-2021 period.

"Both of them are suspected of committing criminal acts of corruption with state losses of no less than Rp13,024,800,000.00," Cahya said in his statement in Bandung, Tuesday, March 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

This case, continued Cahya, occurred in 2020'2022 in Umika Bekasi which received PIPK assistance funds from the Education Financing Service Center (Puslapdik) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) with details of the cost of education of IDR 2.4 million per semester.

"In addition, the cost of living is IDR 4.2 million in 2020 and IDR 5.7 million in 2022 per semester," he said.

The provision of PIPK funds, said Cahya, was through two ways, namely transfers through Umika's account for education costs and transfers through student / student accounts for living expenses through Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI).

Against the two suspects, said Cahya, it was suspected that Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

"He was detained at the Class 1 A Bandung State Detention Center for 20 days from March 4, 2024 to March 23, 2024," said Cahya.
