Acting Governor of West Java, Beyvi Machmudin assessed that Indonesia had lost influential figures by the passing of the former Governor of West Java and officer of Kodam III Siliwangi, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Solihin GP or Kang Ihin, on Tuesday, February 5 at 03.09 WIB.

"The meaning of firmness in his leadership, as well as the example shown by him, must be the daily inspiration we apply," said Bey when visiting the funeral home in Bandung, quoted from ANTARA.

Bey assessed that the departure of Solihin GP had left deep sorrow for the people of West Java and many national figures, given the firmness shown by him during his tenure as governor of West Java from 1970 to 1974.

"On behalf of myself and the West Java provincial government, as well as all residents of West Java, I express my deep condolences for the passing of Mang Ihin and we pray that the deceased will die prosperously and be accepted by his deeds of worship by Allah SWT," he said.

Bey emphasized that the reflection of the firmness possessed by Solihin GP is very important to be applied in each individual, as part of efforts to emulate a wise way of thinking and acting.

"His firmness in leading, as well as his example, must serve as a guideline for all of us in everyday life," he added.

In addition, Bey also revealed that his last meeting with Solihin GP occurred while accompanying President Jokowi in 2018. At that time, Solihin GP conveyed a message to Jokowi to revitalize the Citarum River in a sustainable manner.

"At that time, together with President Jokowi, Mang Ihin emphasized the importance of revitalizing the Citarum area and river. Even though he was old, namely in 2018, he still paid attention to the interests of the nation and state," he explained.

Solihin GP died while being treated at the Advent Hospital and was then buried at the family funeral home on Jalan Cisitu Indah, Bandung City. A number of West Java figures attended the funeral home, including Acil Bimbo, Jaka Bimbo, Ceu Popong, and Atalia Praratya.

Before being buried, the body was first taken to the Kodam III/Siliwangi Headquarters, Jalan Sumbawa at 09.30-12.30 WIB as a final tribute.

The deceased is planned to be buried in the Cikutra Heroes Cemetery (TMP) Bandung at 13.30 WIB.
