PSI Voice Inflated, Bawaslu: Not Evidenced

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of the Republic of Indonesia admitted that it had verified the alleged inflating of the votes acquired by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). The findings of a number of regions do not have a vote inflating practice.

"There are some that we have verified that are not proven. Then we will verify to the field, for example in Cilegon, it will be resolved, is it on social media, right? Some in Central Java that have been completed in stages, have been resolved," said Chairman of the Indonesian Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja in his statement, Monday, February 4.

Bagja said that in some areas, the results of the c form result from the plano are the same as the d form results at the sub-district level. However, he said, there was still an error in reading the form to Sirekap.

"For Sukoharjo, Gatak District, then Geneng Village, how many TPS is this? So the results of the reports of friends are like that. That's for Gatak. For Cilegon too. So it's not true," he said.

Furthermore, Bagja said that the KPU had fixed the problem of the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. It is known that the KPU had revealed that the OCR used by Sirekap was inaccurate in reading the c form results.

"There has been an improvement, if OCR is a C result problem, C the result of the conversion from image to number if I'm not mistaken, he said. So yes, it must be corrected, there is maintenance for two to three days at the KPU," he said.

However, Bagja asked the KPU not to stop recapitulating in stages manually. Because, he said, the tiered recapitulation became a reference for vote counting.

"What we can't stop is manual recapitulation, that's what can't stop. As soon as we move forward, we will continue to carry it out," he said.

The KPU previously emphasized that there was no inflated votes for PSI in the 2024 DPR RI legislative election. The KPU said PSI's vote had increased on the 2024.kpu.go.id election website due to an error in the Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap).

"There is no sound inflation, what exists is the inaccuracy of the OCR (optical character recognition) technology in reading photos of the C. model resulting C. plano form. Here the importance of active role and access for Sirekap to convey the inaccuracy," said the Head of the Indonesian KPU Technical Division, Idham Holik.
