A Palestinian Citizen's Family Begs In Menteng, Central Jakarta

JAKARTA - Sad, a family of Foreign Citizens (WNA) from Palestine was caught begging to a number of pedestrians on Jalan Cikini Raya, Menteng District, Central Jakarta. They consist of husband, wife and two children.

It started when a resident who was sitting on the side of the road was asked for money by a woman with her two children, and admitted to being from Palestine.

Speaking in Arabic, the woman turned her right hand to the residents to pray for mercy. Realizing that something was unusual, residents immediately recorded using cellphones, even though they finally gave money to the woman.

The woman and her husband and child admitted that they could not speak Indonesian.

Head of the Central Jakarta Social Sub-dept., Abdul Salam, admitted that he already knew the video circulating. His party has also conducted a search at the location, but he did not meet the family in question.

"Three days ago I ordered members to make an reach, but they were not found," said Abdul Salam when confirmed, Monday, March 4.

In handling these foreigners, the Central Jakarta Social Sub-Department will also coordinate with a number of related parties such as the Ministry of Social Affairs, Immigration Office, Satpol PP and Kesbangpol.
