Entrepreneur Hanan Supangkat Was Questioned By The KPK Regarding Projects In The Ministry Of Agriculture To Communication With SYL

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned businessman Hanan Supangat regarding his communication with former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Investigators worked on him as a witness on Friday, March 1 yesterday. Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said Hanan, who is the boss of PT Mulia Knitting Factory and former Chairman of the Ferrari Owners Club Indonesia (FOCI) was examined in the case of money laundering (TPPU) that ensnared Syahrul. "Witness Hanan S. has been present to fulfill the summons of KPK investigators as witnesses in the case of TPPU SYL," Ali said in his written statement to reporters, Monday, March 4. "Investigators studied the knowledge of the witness among others regarding the communication between the witness and SYL and also confirmed regarding the information on the alleged existence of his work project in the Ministry of Agriculture," he continued. Ali said Hanan's statement made light on Syahrul's actions that allegedly carried out the laundering of his subordinates and the receipt of gratuities. However, investigators are still working to make the case clear. "The witness testimony clarifies the alleged actions of the suspect SYL and the investigative team are currently still completing all the information related to the proof of his TPPU allegations," he stressed. Previously, the KPK named Syahrul as a suspect for money laundering (TPPU). This step was taken after investigators developed allegations of extortion and gratification that are currently being heard.

In the case of extortion and gratification, Syahrul was charged with extortion of up to Rp44.5 billion in the 2020-2023 period. This action was carried out together with the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and the Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta. This money was then used for the benefit of Syahrul's wife and family, invited gifts, NasDem Party, religious events, aircraft charters to Umrah and sacrifices. Then, he was also charged with receiving gratuities amounting to Rp40.6 M from January 2020 to October 2023.
