Meth-Shabu Worth Tens Of Billions Of Rupiah Seized By Bengkalis Police

JAKARTA - The Bengkalis Resort Police, Riau Province together with customs and excise duty thwarted the smuggling of 15.6 kilograms of methamphetamine from two different locations to three suspects whose value reached tens of billions.

Bengkalis Police Chief AKBP Setyo Bimo Angtorejata said the first scene on Jalan Batin Alam Bengkalis City with evidence was secured as many as 10 plastic packages of red methamphetamine packages weighing about 10.5 kg. Two suspects who were couriers were arrested.

"The two suspects who were arrested were J (22) a palm oil worker and I (21) a student from Pangkalan Batang Village. Apart from methamphetamine, a blue cloth bag, 2 cell phones and one motorcycle were also secured," said Bimo, quoted from Antara, Sunday, March 3.

This arrest began when the team received information about a number of methamphetamine entering Bengkalis Island from Malaysia. Based on this information, the Bengkalis Police Narcotics Team and Bengkalis Customs conducted an investigation.

After obtaining accurate information, On Monday, January 8, 2024, the team monitored a number of points. And at around 23.30 WIB, a white motorcycle was seen riding two people going back and forth slowly along Jalan Batin Alam and stopped by the side of the road while trying to take a bag.

"Then the closest team tried to thwart and arrest the suspect. From the confession, the suspect received an order from Arman by telephone to pick up narcotics in the Bengkalis Polytechnic area and only received Rp. 200,000 in wages," said Bimo.

For the second crime scene on Monday, February 26, 2024, on Jalan Lintas Sungai Pakning- Dumai, one suspect with the initials MR (19) was arrested with evidence of five packs of gold tea brand Guan Yin with a weight of 5.1 kg. Then one instant noodle box, one cell phone, one red Toyota Agya car and Rp3,750,000 in cash.

"The suspect admitted that he received an order from an unknown person from Malaysia to bring the illicit goods from Bengkalis to Pekanbaru and only received a salary of Rp. 5 million through transfer, and the remaining Rp. 25 million will be paid after the work is completed and only Rp. 1,250,000 will be used for operational costs," said Bimo.

The three suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and are currently being secured at the Bengkalis Police Headquarters for further investigation.
