JAKARTA - The Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the United Kingdom will increase cooperation in the digitalization sector for the development of technical capabilities to build e-Government or Digital Government.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, stated that the United Kingdom has had a successful experience in implementing e-Government known as gov.uk. so that according to him it is appropriate that Indonesia can learn from the government.
"Indonesia needs to learn from these successes, so we don't need to repeat or miss some of the failures that have occurred. And this is one of the continuous processes that must be updated, one process that never stops," said Nezar in his official statement, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 2.
Nezar said the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has two tasks related to the implementation of digital government, namely building infrastructure.
Then carry out integration and consultation for interoperability of applications used by ministries, institutions, and local governments.
"In that framework, Indonesia needs supervision of technical assistance from countries that have succeeded in implementing e-Government. One of them is the United Kingdom," said Nezar.
Not only with fellow governments in the world, he said that Indonesia has actually collaborated with various other parties, including universities from abroad to develop technical capabilities in developing digital governance.
He gave an example of one such as the institute owned by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Tony Blair Institute regarding technical assistance.
"Later on, there will be cooperation in technical assistance to improve our ability to build e-Government in Indonesia," said Nezar explaining the collaboration with the institute.
The discussion on increasing cooperation was discussed by Nezar together with the British State Minister for Indo-Pacific Anne Marie Belinda Trevelyan at the Ministry of Communication and Information Office in the middle of this week.
