Malang City Police Investigate Alleged Bullying Of Junior High School Students

Malang City Resort Police (Polresta) is conducting an investigation regarding the alleged bullying incident involving junior high school (SMP) students in Malang City, East Java.

Head of Public Relations of Malang City Police, Ipda Yudi Risdiyanto, revealed that the police had received initial information from the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage circulating on social media and showed the alleged bullying.

"We received information about the incident and we have coordinated it with the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Malang City Police," said Yudi.

The video circulating shows a group of students, more than ten people, walking in a residential area on Jalan Janti Barat, Bandungrejosari Village, Sukun District. One of them is suspected of bullying a student who is still wearing a scout uniform.

The perpetrator was seen kicking and hitting the victim who eventually fell. Although there was another colleague at the scene, they did not try to intervene or stop the beating. The victim, with the initials A, and the alleged perpetrator, with the initials N, both of whom were 14 years old and a junior high school student.

Yudi explained that the information had been communicated with the Sukun Police Chief, because the bullying incident occurred in the Sukun District. Malang City Police have examined three witnesses related to the incident.

Because the perpetrators and victims are still minors, further treatment will be carried out by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Malang City Police Satreskrim.

"We will conduct further investigations regarding this incident. This incident occurred on Friday, March 1 at around 11.00 WIB," he added.
