Increase In Tourist Visits In North Sulawesi Reaches 321.42 Percent, Most From China

Mancanegara (Wisman) tourists who came to visit North Sulawesi Province (Sulut) in January 2024 experienced an increase of 321.42 percent compared to the same position the previous year.

"Tourists who came to North Sulawesi through the entrance to Sam Ratulangi airport in January 2024 were 3,384 people, an increase of 321.42 percent from the same position in 2023 as many as 803 people," said Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sulawesi Asim Saputra, in Manado, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 2.

He said foreign tourists from China still dominate tourist visits to North Sulawesi Province (Sulut) in January 2024.

"Tourists who come are dominated by 2,665 Chinese citizens or 78.75 percent of the total tourists who come to North Sulawesi are 3,384 people," he said.

Asim said then followed by foreign tourists from Singapore as many as 89 people or 2.63 percent of the total foreign tourists, America 80 people or 2.36 percent and Germany 59 people or 1.74 percent.

North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey said his party would continue to make efforts to open international flight routes directly to Manado, so that foreign tourists' visits were getting higher.

Olly Dondokambey said that her party asked for support from all people so that the North Sulawesi economy would be better and more evenly distributed to remote villages.

He hopes that all facilities prepared by the government can be utilized as well as possible by all local governments and tourism business actors to promote all potential tourist destinations, this is a golden opportunity.
