Idrus Marham Regarding Jokowi Close To Golkar: Anyone Can Join, There Is No Prohibition

JAKARTA - Golkar Party politician Idrus Marham said his party was open if President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) wanted to join as a cadre. The relationship between the former governor of DKI Jakarta is indeed quite good.

"Mr. Jokowi's relationship with Golkar, I think the spiritual atmosphere is close, free, there is communication, I'm not the only administrator as now the Chairman of the Bapulu Advisory Council (Pembina) if there is communication, it's not that difficult," Idrus told reporters in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, February 29.

"Then Golkar is a party that goes public, it doesn't belong to anyone, we even usually state that Golkar belongs to the community. Anyone, let's join, there is no prohibition," he continued.

Idrus does not want to talk about the possibility of President Jokowi getting closer to his party. Including the opportunity to become chairman.

According to him, all of this will be decided with the internal stages of the party. One of them is through the party's Basic Budget and Household Budget (AD/ART) to the national deliberation (munas).

"Well, I think there are rules. There are mechanisms and mechanisms that can be discussed at the National Conference as the highest institution determining policies. AD/ART is changed there, the general chairman is changed there, the rules are made there," he said.

In addition, Idrus dismissed Jokowi's direct desire to join forces and occupy the position of chairman. Although so far communication has indeed been carried out.

"Until today, Jokowi has not (talked to Golkar about being a ketum, ed). Pak Jokowi, and I think Pak Jokowi as a national figure, as a president, head of state, and especially for example his status is still in the PDIP, of course, he will maintain a spiritual atmosphere," concluded the former Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos).

As previously reported, President Jokowi did not want to talk when asked about the news that he would join the Golkar Party. This news emerged after his relationship with the PDI-P (PDIP) heated up because of different paths during the 2024 presidential election.

The party bearing the bull symbol is known to support Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, while Jokowi is reportedly supporting Prabowo Subianto who is advancing with his son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"I enter the palace every day," said Jokowi when asked about the reported entry of the Golkar Party by reporters after opening the TNI/Polri Leadership Meeting at GOR Ahmad Yani, TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Wednesday, February 28.

Meanwhile, the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, said that President Jokowi was a national figure. Thus, he belongs to all parties in the country.

"Pak Jokowi is a national figure, so he belongs to all parties," said Airlangga after attending the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 26.

Airlangga again answered the same thing when asked whether there was a formal discussion about Jokowi's joining. "As I said, (Jokowi, red) national figures, yes, all parties have," said the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.
