KPK Ready To Open Extortion To Syahrul Yasin Limpo's Gratification At Trial

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will reveal allegations of corruption committed by former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo at trial.

The results of the extortion investigation against employees to the receipt of gratuities will be presented before the Jakarta Corruption Court Panel of Judges.

"Later, the prosecutor will prove all the facts of the results of the investigation. Including the matter of extortion related to the sale and purchase of the position," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Thursday, February 29.

Ali ensured that the allegation was not just a accusation. "Evidence will be presented before the panel of judges," he said.

Syahrul Yasin Limpo was charged with extortion by withdrawing dues to echelon one officials at the Ministry of Agriculture from 2020 to 2023. The total reached Rp44.5 billion.

Syahrul said the citation money was withdrawn by Syahrul's confidant. They are Imam Mujahidin Fahmid as Special Staff to the Minister of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono as Director General of Plantation for the 2020 period, Muhammad Hatta, who at that time served as Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery, and Panji Harjanto, SYL's aide.

The order to withdraw the contributions was conveyed by Syahrul to his trusted people when he was in his room around the beginning of 2020. At that time, he even threatened that those who did not want to deposit money would lose their positions.

In addition, Syahrul is also said to have received gratuities of Rp40.6 billion when he served as minister. He used the money for his personal and family interests from January 2020 to October 2023.

The value of receipts of up to tens of billions is money that Syahrul has used from the results of extorting his men.
