JAKARTA - The Democratic Party agreed with the Golkar Party to reject the issuance of the right to inquiry in the DPR to investigate allegations of fraud in the 2024 presidential election. Democrats considered it inappropriate if the right of inquiry was linked to the election results.

"Regarding the right of inquiry, for the Democrat Party faction, of course, until now there has been no urgency, because if it is linked to the right of inquiry with the election results, it is certainly not appropriate," said Herman at the DPR building, Thursday, February 29.

According to Herman, if the 2024 election is considered to have indications of fraud and other games, it will certainly become the domain of Bawaslu. He said, in Bawaslu there was an integrated law enforcement (Gakkumdu) and a special trial.

Even if it is later included in the dispute, said Herman, in accordance with the invitation, the election problem will be handled by the Constitutional Court (MK).

"Therefore, if the election issue is withdrawn to the political realm, it is certainly not appropriate, because the election organizers carry out the election based on the government's decision. Then the factions in the DPR. And also discussions in Commission II and other discussions have been agreed and carried out by election organizers," said Herman.

The member of the West Java electoral district Democratic faction emphasized that if the KPU as the organizer of the election has problems related to violations, then it should be reported to Bawaslu. Herman was surprised that the issue for the right of inquiry was only the presidential election, even though this simultaneous election also included the legislative election.

"If it is not enough to be processed at Bawaslu. There is a Gakkumdu consisting of the Police and the Prosecutor's Office. Even if this becomes a dispute, please later the media will enter the Constitutional Court," he said.

"Especially if you separate the legislative and presidential elections, actually this cannot be separated by the people of the simultaneous elections, the elections together," he continued.
